Teaching in Ashram 7
My motto of “try and try until you succeed” is perfectly applying on Raja but I am extremely disappointed by Veer’s work or it will be better if I say no work. He went to some place and is not back till now. This time I was ready with the worksheets I made for them in last class when they were not here. I gave him the worksheet and told him the time limit. I like it, when he completed it correct 1 min early and said “completed sir”. Then I gave him another worksheet and started checking it. I marked where he went wrong and then started discussing his mistakes with him. There were some places where I was unable to understand him because he was using ‘Marathi’ word and I was trying to explain him in Hindi. There were some silly mistakes and some spelling mistakes. I was happy because he was trying his best to do and understand whatever I was trying to tell. I got to know that I need to learn some “Marathi” to be comfortable with him. Now, it’s really a new task for me. I will take help from our school Hindi teacher as she good in Marathi. This time I gave a new task and asked him to write all new words encountered by him in his day to day. This will be a great practice for him to increase his vocabulary.

Teaching in Ashram 6
Now, I will be planning according to his school pattern so, that he can score better. This is the show time when both of us will be tested. I asked him few grammatical questions and he replied well to it. I made him write some difficult spellings used in day today life. Giving an introduction to letter writing was fun. Now, you must be thinking “How can explaining about letter writing be fun?” It was fun because there were many comedy scene came in between while translating. In spite of so many days of coming here, still I am finding some difficulty in explaining him some terms. I am trying to make my explanation as simple as possible so that he doesn’t lose interest. Here, my main aim is not to pass time or do everything in hurry but to evolve his thinking and to improve his English. This will be beneficial to society because he will become a great being with good heart.

“Men's best successes come after their disappointments.” - HENRY WARD BEECHER (Proverbs from Plymouth Pulpit)
Accepting this quote I continued my work. I was disappointed when I saw that both the students of mine were not present and were out of town. I was actually confused about my work. All my planning was washed away. I inquired about their return and got the good news that they will come this week. I sat in my usual place and started to search worksheets, questions, examples to explain any doubt and videos to increase their interest. I found some worksheets from-

I helped Dasom and Hyunju as there was some conversation gap between them and their student. I checked many sites and picked some questions from above sites and also took help from www.youtube.com.

Teaching in Ashram 4
This time I was 5 min late because on my way petrol of my bike dried. I reached and my student Raja was waiting for me. Veer is not well that's why he is not attending the class. I washed my hands because they were smelling like petrol. I started class asked about his experience when he went to Shimla. Then I gave him one of the worksheet which I prepared in last class. When they were not there. Worksheet timing was 20 min in between which he asked me his doubts in question paper. Now he is becoming more and more open and asks more doubts now. He solved it and then we discussed the worksheet. He is working hard which can be seen in his improvements. From next time I am going to make worksheets on sentence correction and formations.

reflection on the first newsletter (October issue)

This was an amazing feeling, when we completed our first news letter. We really worked hard for this news letter. As this was our first news letter, we started with collecting ideas about making of the news letter. All came up with different ideas for it. We pooled all ideas and with a format which included introduction to IB curriculum, head master’s views and interviews of all the DP teachers, as it is starting of our session. We distributed all work among ourselves, and started working on it. My duty was to take two interviews, one of ‘head master’ and another of any ‘DP teacher’. This was my first interview as an interviewer. So first, I prepared the questionnaires and then with the help voice recorder I rec0rded the interviews and later I made a hard copy of that. This was a new task for me as I did this job first time. I think I was successful as it was liked by all. It was a bit difficult for me to understand when I was listening to interviews from recorder. It was an amazing experience and I will love to do it again.
